GENERAL MANAGER

La Belle-Alliance, the voice of Acadians and Francophones in the greater Summerside area of Prince Edward Island, is recruiting a General Manager. The school-community center houses a school, an early childhood center, a kitchen, a boutique, offices, a provincial library and a community center.


Under the direction of the Board of Directors and in collaboration with a small, dynamic and motivated team1 and multiple partners, the General Manager is responsible for the management of La Belle-Alliance.


Main responsibilities :

  • Ensure the integral management of community programming, the boutique and the kitchen, providing catering and school cafeteria services.
  • Manage La Belle-Alliance Center's human and financial resources, while planning, insuring and managing the center's material resources to achieve its objectives in compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with the center's partners, funders and tenants.
  • Represent La Belle-Alliance within the associative network of the Acadian and Francophone community, while respecting the confidentiality of discussions.
  • Ensure that meetings of the Board of Directors and the Annual General Meeting are held, by facilitating the work and meetings of the Board of Directors and implementing its decisions to ensure the success of La Belle-Alliance's mission and objectives.
  • Prepare funding applications to various funders, submit reports to community and government partners, and manage La Belle-Alliance projects while ensuring accountability to funders.
  • Promote La Belle-Alliance, participate in school-community development and sit on committees approved by the Board of Directors to ensure representation of the Belle-Alliance Center.
  • Maintain and monitor the strategic plan and marketing plan, as well as plan, organize and evaluate the center's activities to contribute to the vitality of the region's Francophone community and meet the needs of its members within the framework of the strategic plan's objectives.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors to ensure the smooth operation and overall success of La Belle-Alliance.

Main qualifications and job requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent in administration, with a minimum of three years' experience in financial and human resources management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in project management is an asset, as is experience working in a minority-language context.
  • Experience in managing human, financial and material resources, as well as major projects; training is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the needs of Francophones in a minority language context, as well as of partner groups and their functions.
  • Ability to work with all age groups, including preschoolers, teens, seniors, families, etc.
  • Good knowledge of grant writing is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Dynamic, resourceful, innovative, creative, loyal and caring.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under pressure and to meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including electronic means.
  • Moderate to excellent knowledge of the Office 365 suite.
  • Very good knowledge of French and English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to travel throughout the province: driver's license required and access to own vehicle.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends, with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure with deadlines to meet.
  • Criminal background check and legal right to work in Canada, as well as a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Position offer:

  • Starting salary between $30.00 and $33.75 per hour, an annual starting salary of $58,500, followed by annual increases in accordance with the salary scale.
  • Benefits include vacation, statutory holidays and sick leave, a group insurance plan, dental insurance, extended health insurance and life insurance after three months, as well as access to a group RRSP plan after the 6-month probation period.
  • Flexible hours, telecommuting, evenings and weekends available.
  • Candidates must pass a mandatory criminal background check.
  • Start date to be discussed.
